2.0 TDI longer health?

Featured Replies

I have too keep my car for years 10 at least, I want to know if there are any negative effects on the following:

1. Elephant mod/ catch can... Does this effect the cars idle, running temps etc? -  Basically not a fan of recirculating old used exhaust gases back into the engine block, think it adds to the carbon build up and only reason it exists are emissions criteria.

2 EGR and cooler delete, is there any reason not to do this, and tips for coding out .. and recommendation in Lancashire

I like how you ask on how to further pollute our world!

Being stupid humans you'll get an answer too 🤦‍♂️

My 2.0TDi is now 16 years old. I have had it for 12 years. It has done 100k miles. It is fine. LEAVE IT ALONE!

Recently sold my near 10 year old and 110k Octavia Scout 2.0 PD TDi.

For the first 3 years of ownership I was doing the mileage required to keep a DPF happy.

Unfortunately due to a change in circumstances for the last 7 years my daily commute has been 3.5 miles each way in 30/40mph zones, with the occasional motorway journey into Glasgow.

During the 7 MOTs I've put it through it flew through all the emission limits. Vehicle was serviced annually, fed supermarket diesel and no fuel additives added.

I only sold it due to the Glasgow ULEZ in 2022, otherwise I would have happily kept it until either one of us turned to dust.
