Superb 3 sportline

Featured Replies

Hey,

I am swapping out the stock black/chrome badges on my S3 sportline.

My S3 is moonwhite and I just think the chrome badges/lettering takes from the look of it..

I have attached the link tj the front one from superskoda below.

I can't seem to find a rear one like this. I have reached out to them and they have said the front won't fit the rear.

Has anybody had any experience with this before I pull the trigger and have to pay for shipping twice?

Thanks.

Hope these mods will increase my bhp by 26.72545629375993749 😂

The front one from Superskoda will fit both front and rear.

I have their painted badge on my Kodiaq. It's OEM but painted well.

Thanks a million! Any tips or a guide on doing the actual swap? Like for removing old badges and Kettering and lining up the new ones?

No idea, sorry.  I just know that someone else on here debadged the rear and swapped the emblems to the Superskoda ones.  IIRC it may have been @Boxerdog1, so hopefully he can respond and advise further.

Usually though with the bonnet badge you can just push them out from the underside.  You will likely have to use a smaller trim removal tool for the boot lid and pry it out.  If you want to be extra cautious then perhaps apply a decent quality masking/3M tape around the area, so when you lever against the adjacent paint, you lessen the risk of micro scratches.   If you buy the new badges you'll be able to see how they are fixed and that will give you a better idea of how to remove them, where to lever, etc etc.   The Skoda emblems should have 2-3 locating pins so you should have no problems lining them up.

With the badges that have been attached with adhesive you can just use a strong dental floss or even fishing line to get behind the badge and almost use a sawing action to agitate the adhesive and remove the badge.  You can use a hairdryer to apply heat if it's a little stubborn.

I’ve fitted Superskoda badges to both my old Octavia VRS and my current Sportline. Both were excellent quality. Can’t help with the rear badge though.

In terms of fitting, you can’t push the old badge off from the back.  I used a combination of my wife’s hairdryer, some dental floss and a trim remover tool. I heated the original badge gently to soften the glue patch then gently sawed down the back with the floss. This wasn’t particularly easy but it’s worth taking your time.

once I had got as far as I could, I began levering the badge off. I wasn’t able to keep the old badge in one piece unfortunately but as I won’t refit it, it didn’t matter. Eventually, I had got off all of the badge so then I heated the remaining adhesive off. This took quite a bit of time so if you have any tar and glue removers, they may be worth a try.

Once the old badge was off and everything was clean, I stuck the new badge on. There are a couple of rounded pins on the rear of the badge and indentations on the bonnet to ensure you align it correctly.

I love the look of black badges on the Sportline models and wish they did all of the rear badges in black. That would look awesome.

Hope this helps.

Thanks a million! Is it hard line up rear writing? I assume the badges have their own adhesive?

I don’t know about the rear badges - I’ve not seen any Superb ones in black - but I would assume they have their own adhesive.

To align them, I would put masking tape around the old badges before removal of the old badges and use these as a guide. You could also measure the dimensions and use these.

if you do the rear badges, post some images!

Looks very much like where my sis-in-law lives, in Perranporth. Right down to the parking permits and no parking signs!
