Took me only 6 weeks to remember to change the welcome message on the key personalisation feature. An extra 91bhp is always most welcome.

Help. I am the 2nd owner and have tried to alter the goodbye message or remove it. I set my name on driver personalisation and it displays it in the dash. When I switch the engine off and go to exit the car, the Entertainment screen say's " Goodbye Ellie C. " any ideas how to change it? I am not going to change my name to Ellie 😁

From elsewhere on here -

The quick and dirty fix is to save one setting as memory 1, then the other as memory setting 2. Personalisation is a bit of a black art, but can be achieved - I'd recommend doing it somewhere where your curses won't be heard :). Mine has kessy, but I'm not sure if that makes any difference.

The trick for me was to make sure only one key is anywhere near the car while you are setting it up. I'm working from memory, so apologies if this is an approximation of the steps needed. First set it up how you want it as above. Second go to personalisation in the infotainment. Set yourself a profile name, then assign personalisation to "manual" or "manually assign to key fob" (sorry it's been ages since I did this, so definitely an approximation there) and it will ask you to press a button on the fob. When you do that it should confirm the personalisation has been saved.

Then hide that key well away from the car and repeat all for the next fob with a new profile. Mine had a couple of false starts, but I got there in the end.

If all has worked as it should, when you get in the car it should be set up how you want it and should say "welcome + your profile name " on the maxi-dot. Press the right hand scroll wheel and off you go. If you happen to take the wrong key, you can rotate the right hand scroll wheel and select the profile you want. Press the scroll wheel and it will ask you if you want it to move the seats etc. Hold down the scroll wheel and it will move everything to your profile positions. Don't stop pressing the scroll wheel or it will not complete moving everything.

I seem to remember doing a bit of a write-up on this when I was struggling with it. Might be worth a search. Good luck with it.

I thought this was set up via Skoda Connect as that’s the only place which has been told my surname.
Presumably you haven’t set an account up yet?

depends if your car has personalisation then each key can be tied to a profile which you can rename in the menus on the infotainment system settings.

have a look at personalisation in the manual or see the extracts below.

these are from the My Skoda app which is great when you want the manual to hand 😁

You will notice that the Goodbye name isn’t the same as the Personalisation name though.

Just for background, Mrs john999boy and I only use 1 key - but with 2 profiles. Each time that either of us leaves the car it only says Goodbye to me.

I didn’t realise that.

You are correct, I suspected it was to do with Skoda Connect. I haven't bothered as I recently activated the VW equivalent for my last car and apart from the 'Notify me where my car is'  I didn't use it. I just hope Ellie.C. isn't tracking her old car.... not that it's moved much since mid-March.

Just a thought. If you simply don't want to see someone else's name when the car stops, can you not use the "remember to take your mobile with you" message? That's what mine says when I open the door to leave the car. I can't remember how I set it up as it was a while ago, but it's in the telephone settings in the infotainment somewhere.

Why not just set up a Connect account (without any chargeable additions if that's possible) to replace Ellie's name with yours?

Funny you should say that, it seems to do whatever it likes

I will have a look

  • 5 months later...

Think it's

Menu

settings

Skoda connect

Registration

And then either

Delete main user or New main user.

Wrecked my head for a while - hope this helps
