It'll be less effort to check the integrity of the wiring ....

would it help if i strip the door down? i have some clips left over.

Checking the wiring just requires popping the door card off. Getting the lock out means stripping the door down almost completely.

I possibly should have pointed out that this job still requires you to have access to the other end of the door harness where it connects inside the car so you can verify continuity on each wire.

A quick test before you go to this trouble is to pull back the bellows and poke at the wires a bit and see if anything starts (mis)behaving. On ours when I collected it, the central locking motors would twitch a bit when I turned on the heated mirrors: this stopped after some poking at the wires, suggesting a door harness failure. It's mostly still working for now so I haven't bothered doing anything more to sort it out yet.

i will prod around, hopefully that will work.

update:

took the door trim off, prodded the wires inside the door then tried the other side which is inside the car, went down to the pedal parts, still moving wires around and shine a torch in there to try see any broken wires. stll nothing so i guess the micro unit is fasulty :)

on a bright side, i did fix the flashing red light where the old style lock is :)  the plug for it was pulled out, just plugged it in and it started flashing.

does anyone know the model number please? if not i will just take the unit out that way, jsut thought i would ask so icould order it straight away.

I do not want to state the obvious, but did you actually measure voltage and integrity of the wires? Visual checks and wiggeling on the wires will not alwys find broken wires where the insulation is intact.

I have attached 2 PDF of the central locking wiring.

thank you

The wires in the harness between the door and the body can snap. Apparently you can buy new looms, I repaired mine but it was quite difficult and I'm an experienced electronic assembler. Broken wires here caused all sorts of weirdness in the central locking and windows etc. The good news was that the issues were completely obvious once the loom was unplugged from the body and the rubber boot pulled back.

ive not had chance yet to sort it out, been busy sorting my other problem out which is changing the dust shield but that is from another thread.
