Hinge and stay lubrication

Featured Replies

During the six years of dealer servicing I have seen no evidence of lubrication of the door hinges or stays. They seem dry to me and am wondering if they should be lubricated? I have seen the white grease on other makes but none on the Skoda models owned by various family members.

White Grease on hinges and stays is what i often see as the only sign of Skoda Main Dealership servicing having been done. That and floors vacuumed.

Wheels having been off and Copper Grease applied between alloy and steel is far less common.

They never did any of my Skoda’s during main dealer services 😩

Luckily I always have white lithium spray grease in my works van, so all hinges etc were done.

TBH I tend to use a clear non friction spray PTFE lubricant on them these days avoids a mess.

Its better just to do it yourself, as mentioned above, they usually don't take much care and it ends up all over the door seal and then it attracts dirt and dust.

I tended to use Lithium spray grease on the door stays, catches, joints and guides.  It lasts forever and keeps things sweet.
