Hi Everyone,

 

I have a Rapid Spaceback 2016 and today when I went to open the fuel filler flap it will not open, I have tried locking / unlocking the car few times and pushing the door in and out a fair bit but it will not open, I have even trying using a soft rubber tipped tool to gently pries the flap open but not happening. It is almost as if the locking mechanism is still engaged, so is there any way to manually over ride it, even if that means for the time being the filler cap being left unlocked until the garages are back open.

 

Hoping someone has had this issue and knows how to get around it so I can refuel the car?

Happened to me.
Apply a bit of leverage as you lock/ unlock with the key IIRC worked for me. 
a new solenoid sorted it for me, around £25 I think and easily fitted, 2 or 3 screws to remove, in less than an hour.

OK I will give that a go, fingers crossed it releases 🙂

Hmm not having much luck with this, don't suppose there is any way to release it from inside the car, like a manual cable or something ?

Is your central locking set to "driver only" or "all doors"? You never know, cycling that setting might reset the filler lock.

If you look on YouTube, you'll find tons of videos showing how to open the fuel filler flap manually from the luggage area on VAG cars.
