Help!! My Rear lights have stopped working

Featured Replies

I own a combo fabia when I switched on the back fog lights my rear lights stopped working and I haven’t a clue what the problem is, has anybody else experienced this issue what is the fix. Can’t drive with no back lights

It is a 2005

Checked the bulbs and fuses?

The fog/tail bulbs are twin filament 12v 21/4w (type 566). On the right hand tail light, the 21w filament serves as the fog light. On the left side, the 21w filament is redundant on UK cars as only the fog on the right is used.

It could be but the problem before hand was that the rear fogs would go on normally with lights(really bright) but no light on dash, then when I try turn fogs on no change because I think they are already on. Thanks again

Check it's got the right bulbs in and that they are fitted correctly. They have to be 566 bulbs. I have seen people jam the wrong bulbs in or jam the correct ones in the wrong way.

Is their a wrong way? The manual says nothing, what fuse is the rear lights and would that have anything to do with my driver right side dipped light going now also

In days of old a lot of cars used the chassis as a return. Various rear light problems were  caused by this .

Still do as it is there and saves money/wire.

I had to restore rear lights to one of my wife's friends once, it was a Shove It, made up a heavy wire link, sorted that problem out easily as the rear light clusters had "earthing" bolts holding them in, though rust was got working well as a conductor.

Edit:- well not a direct to body earth contact via the lighting fitting nowadays.
