Featured Replies

Hi

I wonder why my new rotors have same unused edge?

Old ones had same unused edge look at the picture.

Your new brake pads haven't bedded in yet, stop tickling the brakes and give it some welly!

If the old pads were correct for the old (and new) rotors you shouldn't have that big band around the outside edge of old or new rotors.

What diameter are the discs, and which engine does your Fabia have; petrol/diesel/output power?

Take those pads off and file them flat, or just fit new ones.

239mm vs 256mm, incredible.

You need to start over.

Nah, they are matching part numbers for the FSIII 256mm set-up, it must just be the way the old discs wore the pads.

I will buy new pads and get back with results. Thanks for your time guys.

Look at the old discs.

Yeah, big rusty annulus which will have worn the pads down locally.

I've never seen anything like that happen to both front discs before, it's really odd for it to be so uniform like that.

Thats right, theexisting pads will eventually start to deglaze that part, I have just replaced discs but retained the pads as they were a good make and not much wear except for where the rust was, I filed them flat(ter) before refitting.

Because of the confinement I have only done one short journey to break them in, just been out to check, can only see the outer disc faces but one of them I cannot have filed flat enough and I have an approx 8mm band on the outside of one disc that still has the silver protective coating (paint) showing, pad looks flat to the eye so I expect it to be braking on the whole area within a few miles.

239 pads will be narrower than 256 but could possibly have been fitted in error, always fit new pads to new discs to be certain of strong brakes straight away.

Fixed. Changed to new pads. After 2 brakes its already as it should be

Thanks all for help.
