Columbus no audio, just feedback beeps

Featured Replies

Hi all

Started the car yesterday and realised the radio volume wouldn't adjust, turned off engine and restarted now no audio at all. Was going for petrol so ignored, 5 min drive and still no audio, filled up, drove off and radio playing fine and volume working again. Got in the car a few hours later and volume not working again, stopped, restarted got radio back then it faded off again. Did a soft reset, it came back, volume control didn't work and it went off again and hasn't come on since.

Reverse beeps work, feedback beeps work and seem to relate to volume (quieter and louder), no navigation voice.

I've read a fair bit and can see mention of recoding the unit to the car or maybe the software needing to be re-installed or maybe the amp gone, how do i narrow this down please? I can't get the hidden version info screen so presume it may never of been upgraded, but i've no idea what version software to install if that's the first place to start.

Car is 2011

Part = 3T0 035 680

HW = H03

SW = 0904

(Taken from the sticker on the unit)

Thanks

You have one of the very first units, and notorously flaky & problematic. You can possibly try a software update (this is what I presume is the issue) but if your unit's failing then this may kill it.

I guess i have nothing to lose at the moment as it's just a display now. Can you advise what version sw i should be tying to install please?

Worst case, i had almost considered an android unit and i helped a friend set his xtrons up a few months back, but when working, I'm quite happy with the columbus. If it does then so be it, new stereo it will have to be

Thanks

There's a version kicking about on line which should be okay, but as with anything downloaded online there's a risk you might not get the correct one (or worse still, one that's been fiddled to damage your unit). You might seach for 5238 Josi and find it.

Alternatively, for Freedom members I offer online support via personal message on here. If you choose to join Freedom (cost is £10 for a year) then feel free to message me and we'll talk you through what's needed etc.

Well the slow boat finally arrived today and i owe rusty a huge thanks and a beer if our paths ever cross.

After a few messages and a firmware update still didn't resolve the issue, rusty said he thought it could be the radio board...... with nothing much to lose, i ordered This from aliexpress and waited in hope. Arrived today, followed some hard drive replacement guide and swapped out the board.

The great news is, i now have audio from my stereo again

Many thanks rusty!
