DAB Radio lost

Featured Replies

I have lost all of my DAB radio stations and I' unable to tune then back in?

Ant ideas?

Thank you

What was the reason they were lost; I presume they didn’t just randomly disappear?

I have no idea, they used ti be there, now they are not?

i do a scan and nothing.

Sasha grace fitted a camera and told we that the radio plug was dodgy but that would not explain why only DAB was lost?

if it were the plug all would be lost?

I did have a battery issue during the lockdown as the car was used only once?

Thank you

It could well be the dodgy plug. Eliminate the known potential issues first. I presume you do have decent DAB signals where you’re located?

DAB often has a different antenna to FM / AM - so it could well explain why you've lost DAB

I had the exact same issue with my DAB radio. Its probably the antenna. The one that you have is a stock VAG amplified type and they suffer greatly from water seeping into them and it will need replacing. I have replaced mine with a screen antenna, not a difficult job and immediately the DAB radio worked. Hope that helps, of course you could always replace the stock antenna with another one, apparently the job isn't difficult and anyone out there that done this might be able to help with details.

If you do replace the antenna with another and you need access to the control unit, the glove box will have to come off and passenger airbag disconnected. TIP: Once the box is off and the airbag disconnected do not turn on the ignition without reconnecting the airbag or you will have a fault emerge that needs to turned off with an OBD2 reader.

Had my Superb for three years and lost my DAB stations three times. This is the first time I have heard about water seeping into the antenna. Fortunately I have a final warranty inspection booked for next week. Will ask for a check. Thanks @yaggiboom

Was it a dash cam? And did you have a rear. One fitted too? If so try turning them off see if the signal is better. The dab signal in my car is certainly not as good since the rear dash cam was fitted.

Late to the party, but ^^ this.

I have a rear dash cam as well as a front, it kills the DAB signal. If I want DAB I have to unplug the rear camera. It's improved a bit with a big choke / suppressor close to the rear camera but it's still awful. At some point I will rewire it from the passenger side of the car to the driver's side (along the door sills) to see if that helps

I re-ran mine on the drivers side. It's a bit better but not hugely. It seems to be the camera being anywhere near the rear window is the problem. Given its a rear window camera that's a bit of a b****r!!! I did find that pulling all of the excess cable back through so literally all that's in the boot lid is what needed to get the camera where I wanted it helped. The rest is hidden in the roof lining. Don't cause any rattles or anything.

Bit random, but do you have an USB charger plugged into the 12V socket?  I had one that killed my DAB signal completely.
