Central locking issues

Featured Replies

Unlocking the doors with the key only opens the driver door and the fuel cap and it is no different when I open it manually (key in door). I ran a diagnostic and the following code came up for the rear doors and the front passenger door "supply voltage for door control module". I also got a fault code for the locking switch in the centre console.

I'm assuming this points to a component they all share. Am I correct and if so,

  • What's the part and where is it located
  • Can it be fixed or does it have to be replaced

As usual, your advice is more than welcome. Thanks in advance

If your car's battery is a few years old, you made short journeys and your car has not been in regular use recently it could just be a tired battery needing a good charge, the battery disconnected for a few minutes to reset the electronics or you may just need a new battery.

The scan may not be relevant but there is a VCDS option to control if all doors opening is preferred to just the driver’s door. Similar  things for auto locking  and what to do when a door is opened or the key is removed IIRC.

Thanks for the advice. I disconnected the battery but there was no change. However a friend told me to check the battery in the key fob. Sure enough it had the wrong battery (2025 instead of 2032). Now the doors are opening, one click driver door and two clicks other doors
