Cruise control not working NEW - 2008 2.0 FSI Elegance

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I have a 2008 2.0 FSI hatchback elegance. Automatic gearbox.

I purchased the car with cruise control not working. I have never been able to use it. I tried cleaning the stalk as suggested in several other threads. It didn't help. Break lights are working fine. In general i have no electrical issues with the car to suggest anything wrong with the instruments that may affect the CC.

I haven't tested with VCDS, as I don't have one, but just purchased a OBD2 Dongle. Is it even useful with the problem I have?

I was wondering if someone has had the same issue and managed to test or even fix the the CC? Sometimes I wonder do i even have CC fitted? :-D

Any ideas would be welcome.

Thank you all in advance

Presumably you have the cruise control buttons ? I imagine a 2008 Elegance would have cc as standard. Not all cars have a cruise control indicator light in the instrument cluster also.

I assume you have switched the cc switch to "on", accelerated to a suitable speed (say 30mph) and pressed the set button? And nothing happened?

I have the buttons on the stalk. I see that there is the symbol on my dashboard, but never the light.
I have tried engaging the CC on a motorway with speeds above 30mph and still nothing.

It can be fitted but not enabled in the main engine ECU if it has been swopped for a remapped one.

Easy to recode using VCDS which will also tell you why its not working.

No dashboard light on my 2006 pre F/L.
