cleaning engine

Featured Replies

if i sprayed the engine bay with the hot pressure washer would it damage anything in there, being carefull around the wirey important looking things, just a quick question really

Don't do it is my recommendation.

Mucky bits are supposed to be mucky, shiny bits are supposed to shine!

Who looks under your bonnet anyway?

( just my opinion, don't tell me off!)

Pressure wash your engine the day before you sell it

It takes 1 minute and is perfectly safe. The fabia has no loose wires to worry about. I covered up the battery, air intake, and the ground point using foil. It sounds stupid but its a recommendation from www.polishedbliss.co.uk and worked a treat.

When using the pressure washer, always angle it very steeply.

Hope thats of use to you.

I couldn't have put it better myself.

When ever i pressure wash my engine i do it with the engine running, then you don't have to worry about it not starting afterwords! ;):D

This is fine just make sure the engine is warm and not hot.

I wouldnt advise that on the Fabia, especially where the intake is. Unless you really want to pay for a new engine.

Warmed up and off would be my choice, steer clear of the engine ECU and ABS unit. Give it a good run after and blow off and excess moisture with a compressed air line.

 DONT USE FOIL, you could short the battery out and set the blo0dy thing on fire.

I see your point but I followed the advice given on www.polishedbliss.co.uk very carefully and I found the technique worked very well. Engine bay looks like new.
