Auto lock unlocking while driving?

Featured Replies

So I activated drive away locking via VCDS on my 05 VRS and all seemed well for a few days but the last few days after around 10 miles or so the doors randomly unlock themselves. I initially thought I hit the door unlock button by accident but then it keeps happening.

Its not every trip though, anyone have any experiences of these gremlins?

The cars done 180k and mechanically well maintained by previous owner who is audi diagnostic technician and good friend of mine.

He he did not have drive away locking activated so never experienced this.

Anyway thanks for reading

Check the bellows that covers the wiring between (driver's) door loom and the connectors at the a-pillar; is the boot sitting correctly at the a-pillar end? It needs to form a water-tight seal there, 'cos the connectors within aren't sealed. It's tricky to get it to seat correctly after pulling it back to check for broken wires, so sometimes they get left 'half-on'. Then water gets in and corrodes connections.

Not saying this is your problem, but it's an easy thing to quickly inspect.

Scan with VCDS might also help. I had random locking/unlocking on my Fab due to a failing door lock microswitch. Worse if on bumpy road so I thought it was due to the car body flexing relative to the door and jiggling the lock. VCDS showed a fault with the front passenger lock and a new lock cured it.
