Stalling lots

Featured Replies

hello all i have mk3 octy scout 150bhp manual gearbox i am a advance driver and what ever fine adjustments i make to my postion in drivers seat i still fine my car stalls so easily compared to my mk2 scout with a pd140 engine manual gearbox i stall pulling away a few times a week notice thats once i start bring clutch up to bit point the revs naturally drop from around 900rpm down to 750-800 rpm which unless i give it more gas than normal will cause car to stall and getting rather fed up with it all now it seems more the car automatically reducing rpm once in noticing clutch has be started to engaged is there some can be done with settings in coding or something to tell car not to adjust rev postion when clutch is depressed?

A well known problem with the 1.5 petrol engine. Skoda brought out a software fix about a year ago which helps a lot but is not a perfect solution. I am guessing that you have not had the update applied. Skoda never advertised the fix and you have to ask for it. Some members are finding that the fix makes their fuel consumption higher, I don't find that. Perhaps you could record your long term consumption before and after if you get the software update. I hope this helps.

Isn’t the Scout the 2.0 TDI?

The issue might not be software. It might be a clutch issue.

No known faults I can think of but I was thinking it might be a fault with the clutch unit itself. My dad had a similar fault (albeit not on a Skoda). His car would stall easily and it turned out to be a clutch release bearing had failed.

Scout was never sold with the 1.5 TSI

900 seems a little low for pulling away. The pd engine has great low down torque and allowed pulling away with little gas input. The cr engines are much more revvy and require more gas pedal to get going. Is it possible you just need to adjust your driving style to compensate?

The software fix I mentioned was strictly for the 1.5 petrol engine. The problems seems very similar. You could ask your dealer if there is an update for the diesel. When they updated the petrol version Skoda never announced it, you had to find out for yourself.
