Remapping

Featured Replies

Hi All,

I am considering getting my 2016 2lt diesel Superb remapped, but have a few of questions I hope you can advise me on:

1) Will it improve my fuel economy and if so by how much?

2) How much is it likely to increase my insurance by?

3) What remap/rechip should I go for?

4) Any recommendations of people who can carry out the work in the Bedfordshire/Buckinghamshire?

All suggestions welcome.

Thanks in advance.

Fuel economy may improve a bit.

depends on the insurance company. Ring them and ask them before you get it done.
I had my 190 sportline 4x4 mapped by racingline. One of the more expensive tuners but very very good and reliable. A lot of money is spent on r&d and they also do lots of work for VW..

mine is now Running 235bhp and 540nm of torque

LV didn’t increase the premium for a remap/chip when I used them this month. I moved from Esure who added £60 IIRC.

Hi.

If you need any help with insurance for a re-map then please feel free to drop me a line.

Regards,

Dan.

I had my 2l DSG 190 TDI  remapped about 2 months ago and the long term mpg is still creeping up, despite not driving it as steadily due to the fact it's way more fun to drive! I did a 5 hr, 330 ish mile trip on about 3/8 of a tank (I got just under 750 miles out of the full tank) sat at 70 mph most of the way, so for me it's made a big improvement to the economy! As for power/torque, it's quicker from a start and has made it even more enjoyable to drive.  I used a local mapper to Oxford and insurance didn't go up with Direct Line.

I also switched to LV in May and saw my renewal fall despite a stage 1 remap. Mine is petrol and small improvement in economy to 39mpg despite 514nm and 360bhp.

Who did you go to, and if you don't mind me asking, how much was it?  I'm shopping round in advance of getting a Yeti 170 and having it done.

Hi.

I had a stage 1 Revo remap done recently at VAGTech in Bletchley / MK. They are VAG specialists https://www.vagtech.co.uk/

All OK & car was re-coded as part of the package. Car also went in for a fuel canister replacement at the same but that's another story.

Mine's a petrol 280 - now running at 360bhp. Revo do re-maps for Diesels as well. Depending on what 2ltr model you have up to 238bhp/380lbft should be possible. https://www.onlyrevo.com/product-details/software/skoda/superb-mk3-2015-/324/stage-1

Depending on how you drive it & where (motorway / local), the fuel economy should stay the same or get better.

Shop around for insurance as it varies widely. My insurer wouldn't touch my car with any sort of modification let alone a stage 1 re-map on it so I had to switch to LV which, on a multi car policy with my wife's car, actually worked out cheaper.

AK Performance Tuning, you can find him (Adam) on Facebook and if you send him a message with your registration he'll give you a cost and possible power and torque gains. Off the top of my head £180 sounds about right but he can give you an accurate cost for your vehicle.
