Hi, possibly looking to join the crowd

Featured Replies

Hi,

As a result of a job change, I'm in the market for a new company car, and having been told by two online friends to get an Octavia, I've joined to read (and search) all about the car from fellow UK enthusiasts (including at least one of the friends who suggested the car in the first place).

I need to make the decision fairly quickly, but if I choose the Skoda, I will stay around and become more active - if I don't I may well end up with another car from VAG, and hence will probably stay around anyway :)

Welcome - whether you buy Skoda or not :)

Much info on here to help you decide

There isn't better value for money than the octavia, the 1.9 tdi is good the 2.0 tdi is brilliant

Ah well, that's the interesting bit - the Octavia is only about

Hi Swing

I have recently joined this forum, new Octavia ordered last week.

Had an unlimited choice really, a BMW 318i would have been £25 quid cheaper than the Skoda I ordered, but value for money and kit nothing came close to an Octy. Test drove many cars, I have gone for a 2.0PD TDi Elegance DSG with extra's, fantastic car to drive. My dealer offered me an extended test drive and the lease company have agreed to order the car through them.

Good luck with the search

Paul

Hi and welcome,

2.0tdi would be a good choice.

Welcome. :D

You do realise that even these days Skoda's cost more than a fiver... ;)

Ah, but remember the company is paying, not me

Well, it looks like I'm staying around for a fair while - last week I sent off the paperwork to the lease company for a well specced Octy - the order should be placed in the next week or two, and then I just have to wait for a factory build. If I'm really lucky it'll just creep into the October full '07 build, and I'll get the new dual sun visors :)

Hi, and welcome

Great choice of car. What extras have you had?

Quite a few actually...

Skoda Octavia 2.0TDi DSG L&K with:

- Metallic Paint

- ESP

- Xenon Headlights

- Tyre Pressure and Temperature Monitoring (sic)

- Front parking sensors

Interestingly - the lease company used to have "Tyre Pressure Monitoring", but the option (since week 22 and new '07 spec) is now called "Tyre Pressure and Termperature Monitoring" - so whether they have changed something I don't know, but I ordered it anyway :)

Glad you've got one on order.

What are the dual sunvisors then?

From (the word doc at the top of):

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/new-octavia/2007-models/52910/2/

"Other innovations include double sun visors that can be split up to two parts and a cruise control activation light situated in the analogue speedometer area."

No idea what it is, but I think it should come in with the full 2007 spec, which has a build start in October (although I don't know which week!). In another thread there were described as "fold out sun visors".

It's a two part sun visor so you can have it to the front and to the side rather than the single piece ones that can do either the front or the side

Merc started that with the visors and it's very handy. Good spec you have, just like mine. I specced up a Passat and with the same stuff it was 30 grand.

Thanks for confirming what I thought - now I just need to try to fathom out whether or not I'll actually get them...

Ordered next week (at the earliest) - so 8 weeks would be mid-October. I wonder when in October the full 2007 spec comes on stream...

Thanks.

That may not be applicable to UK models though. That said, some owners have reported having the cruise light already and I know the Line in is fitted to mine. Have to wait and see for the rest won't I.
