Service during lockdown

Featured Replies

Due to lockdown and not having any holidays this year, I will have only done 2000 miles between my last service and this years one.  I was wondering if I could miss having a service this year.  Shouldn't having synthetic engine oil mean I could wait until next July?

The car is always driven moderately, no short journeys, and is always driven for at least 1/2 hour or about 15 miles every time it is started.

What do others think?

Give the oil and filter change a miss if you want.

Do not give the DIY inspection of the tyres / inside walls, steering, suspension, wiper blades etc etc a miss though.

I would get it done on time basis if you want it to have a proper service history. Presumably the car computer is saying a service is due ?

If the car has just been parked, and when it has been used, got fully warmed up then the oil is probably ok, and if you’re not bothered about service history then you could leave it - but I personally wouldn’t, there will have been a few short runs from a cold start in that year somewhere.

I also have a Toyota Aygo which only did 2400 miles in the last year and I still had it serviced.

I’d still be getting it done.

My thanks to all.  I'll get it done.

Roottoot's link makes me think I should be on a flexible service regime.  My car is 5 years old, can I change over now?  and how do I go about it?

Thank you

Stewart
