Bad diesel knocking after injection adaption help

Featured Replies

Hi my 1.6tdi cayc fabia from when i bought it had a slight knocking when in 2nd gear labouring, i was told to book in with a vagcom specialist and ask for a injector deviation adaption that i did.

As he was doing the adaption he said and showed me that my injector 1 reading was way out.

But on driving away the clanking is 10 times worse after this process.

Why would this happen, it was quite livable before but i dernt drive it now.

Noticed this morning in cold start it was well rough.

The car is due a nox recall aswell but I've not had it done yet.

Ive bought a good injector with the same part number ready to be coded in, but knowing my really bad luck with this car it wont make any difference.

Just last week it cost me £486 for the mot.

Needed steering rack and other bits, gutted and really fed up☹️

It’s hard to tell mate as usually injector one is fed first off the common fuel rail so is rich with fuel maybe injector 3 at 0.1353 mg/stroke? As it’s strange as the last injector is fuelling more than injector 3 ?

Im really stuck now cause ive literally had the car 4 weeks with mot due, it needed 2 track rod ends and had a leaky rack, all that came to £486 week later this injector issue, cant sell it cause of this problem.

Maybe i could get the nox update done then they might be under warranty then.

After that have it reversed and mapped, im just sick of spending on it, paid 3300 and now 485, and who knows for injector fitted n coded.

Tried to to a injector adaption last night in vagcom, pressed brake and accelerator down like it wanted and glow light blinked and all i got for over 25 mins was rough idle, it didnt rev up like i was told.

Gave up in the end stupid car 😭

The track rod ends was an issue that had a TPI covering them and that meant people had that dealt with while under warranty way back.

Not all got done.

If the car is not right now then unlikely The Fix will get done and you getting a 24 month peace of mind guarantee on possible issues.

Then reversed and mapped you are just back where you are now.

?

How many miles has your car covered?

Hi the car has done 86k, i rung skoda up 4 weeks ago after i bought it and they said only thing outstanding was the emissions update, i should have had it done when there wasnt a problem.

I could do a leak off test to determine which is the bad injector.

This 2nd hand injector has arrived today but it will cost me £50 just to find out if its a duff one or not 😢

Looking at that set of readings injector 1 is the best of the 4, and 2 is the worst by quite a margin. FWIW Skoda consider anything up to +/- 2.8 within spec so those figures are not that bad (my car has worse numbers than yours but the Skoda dealer here had a good look and decided it was still well within spec).

If your car is worse after the adaptation performed by that guy then you need to go back and get him to undo what ever adjustment he made, since it has clearly not solved the problem. It might also be reasonable to demand a refund given that they not only failed to fix anything but in fact made it worse.

Views are mixed around here on the emissions update. If it's carried out Skoda offer a 2 year warranty (officially called the Trust Building Measure but a warranty in all but name) on certain engine components, injectors included.

TBH at this point I'd be looking for a good diesel injection specialist with the tools and knowledge to figure out what (if any) problem your car might have.

Yes i think your right mate, its really undrivable to be honest, 20mpg and clacking big time, its officially off the road till i can find someone local to me in Sheffield.

I dont think this guy did the adaption correctly as it didnt rev up like it does on the golfs etc

Try rtmg performance in Sheffield they might be able to sort it out but not sure as they mainly deal in petrols

You could also the The Garage in Sheaf Gardens Sheffield as they are vw, audi, skoda specialists and seem to know thier stuff...
