Clutch pedal sticking problem

Featured Replies

Hi,

I have a 66 plate Octavia SEL 2.0D estate 4x4 and I have started having problems with the clutch pedal sticking from time to time and not returning to where it should be, and is slowly getting worse. It started after lockdown when it as hardly being used. It is especially bad first thing in the morning, but gets better if you pump the pedal a few times.

I have just had a mobile mechanic look at it and it is not the clutch master cylinder as it is working fine. He took the whole pedal assembly apart and cleaned it and it felt great for a short while, but it is now having the same problem.

So it is something else - any ideas?

It has done 40K miles in less than 4 years, 33K of those are in the exactly 3 years I have owned it. It is used around town and short journeys, but a good percentage of the mileage is a 125 mile round trip to my job where it has minimal gear changes, although that is only 1 or 2 days a week.

Thanks
