mk1 octavia vrs whats it worth?

Featured Replies

Just wondering what my 2005(55) vrs in black with 76000 miles would be worth roughly,1 previous owner(family) very good condition and drives A1....only bad points are small 20p sized rip in side drivers seat and scratch on rear passender door have been quoted 100 to repair........Only asking as am considering a change and the px prices are a laugh.....Any advice appreciated

According to Parkers:

Private Price £660 - £880
Dealer Price £1,355 - £1,930
Based on 150,000 miles with no optional extras

So you can uprate it as your mileage is so low.

Need a bit more info really.

Service history?

Does it need a cam belt changing or has that been done recently?

Has the oil pick up pipe ever been changed?

Any knocks or creaks from suspension?

Tyre condition?

Do the wheels need refurbing?

What condition are all the vac lines in the engine bay in?

Are all electrical items working as they should?

Brake discs and pads condition?

It may be low mileage, but it's 15 years old so potentially could require more work than you think to be "A1".

The prices on mk1 Octavia VRS are not massive unfortunately, there's plenty of decent ones around for £800 to £1200. If you're looking to get £1500+ it'll need to be something really tidy.

........So after looking for couple hours at vrs for sale  any priced around £1200- £1800 have between 100-120k miles  and scruffy paint interior and wheels and anything for around 850-1200 has done 120-150k+ miles and are far from decent, many of them have been modded with lots of former owners and a fair few  with questionable mot history ...whereas this has wanted for nothing all its life and has averaged 5k miles a year and has no mechanical faults i feel its better than any mk1s ive seen for sale up to now....

They really don’t sell for a high price atm. If you want top money, stay away from FB groups and just stick to AutoTrader and Gumtree.

Right now I could pick up a couple for £800-£1000 with less than 120,000 miles. Definitely more than you’d get trade price. Some may see the car as poverty spec, some won’t care at all, but I know that I’d pay more for a decent spec’d VRS.

The key is, sing and dance about it in the ad, make it a decent one and a good lengthy read and be just as honest as you have been here and it will sell, and sell for good money, it may take a couple weeks.

All the best!!

Good advice.

Decent photos and a well written advert make all the difference and it's definitely worked for me in the past.  I usually take the car to a decent location for photos as well as taking a few cleaning products just in case the car gets dirty on the way.

I'm biased but I genuinely think the MK1 vRS is very underrated and should be worth more than it currently is.  As numbers drop and well looked after cars become rarer, people in the know will appreciate them but to most people, it's just an old Skoda.  When people ask me what I drive I usually say 'Just a 17 year old Skoda' and that's usually the end of the conversation. If they are into cars they might ask further but it's amazing how many people ask if it's a diesel.  If they ask that I move the conversation onto something else.

It's very rare anyone knows what the Mk1 vRS is and that number is reduced by how many people appreciate it.

If you write a good advert, describe it accurately and if it's a decent car you might get over the £1500 mark.👍

He’ll be disappointed. That ain’t going to get 4x4 treatment, The amount of work to the chassis that would need doing, it wouldn’t even be worth the time, nor effort or money. You’d just buy a cheap 4x4 octavia and go from there. He’d have to cut a tunnel into it for the prop shaft and goes know what other welding and strengthening it would need... 🤦‍♂️

Stage 2, yeah, fine. But with that sort of reply to things expect him to blow the engine, unless he knows what’s he’s doing.
