Replacement fob needed

Featured Replies

Hi guys, can you tell me the best place to get a new fob from? Would it have to be the main dealer, or do you know of any independants out there?

First a new tyre and now this, they say things come in threes.lol

Thanks as always.

I had to get a new fob as the original one got damaged about a year ago

Although after doing a google search I found company's who could supply fobs the problem was that they had to be programmed

After doing a search I could not locate anyone who could do that

In the end I had to bite the bullet and go back to the main dealer who I purchased the car from

I seem to remember it cost about £250

Original Fob has died, no obvious damage and battery is OK. New Fob for keyless start, comes from Germany, £295.50 inc. VAT plus £50 for coding, 3 -4 week delivery!!!

I plan to ask Skoda for some "goodwill"  as  the car is less than 5 years old - here's hoping! Car is Fabia Estate 1.2 TSI DSG SE-L which was a downsize from an Octavia Estate which managed 10 years without any key/fob problems

Ouch, like you, I'd be expecting it last a lot longer than 5 years, our previous 2 VWs normal "switch blade" fobs lasted over 13 years, and the 2000 Passat ones are still working okay!

Current 2011 S4, stuff in the dash fobs both good, current 2015 Polo "switch blade" normal fobs okay.
