Skoda pick up 1.9d AEF engine

Featured Replies

Hi, I'm after some advice if possible.

I've just put my pick up on the road.

I've serviced the engine, replaced the filters etc.

When I'm  driving the car feels like it's hesitating, then I get a puff of white smoke , then away we go!

Would I be right I  thinking fuel pump?

The car has only done 72k with two owners.

Thanks in advance,  Dave

Your description is not enough for a proper answer. A diagnosis involves checking several things:

-    Checking and adjusting start of delivery of injection pump

-    Checking engine timing

-    Testing and adjusting idling speed, boost idling speed and governed speed

-    Servicing injectors

-    Testing condition of spray pintle of injection nozzles, ejection pressure and leaktightness

-    Testing potentiometer for load signal

-    Testing start of injection valve

Hi Ricardo,

Thanks for the reply.

I think I'll put this into my local diesel garage as I could check the timing but don't have the facilities to do the rest.

Will post how it turns out

Thanks again

All the time, or just when the engine is cold?

Hi, it seems to be from cold it still drives but hesitates even when warmed up.

This car has only done 72k, I had o e that had 145k on the clock and was fine.

Just looking for suggestions.

Thanks

I got that; white smoke from a diesel usually means incomplete combustion due to a cold engine (internal temperature, not water jacket).
