android auto - mute the radio

Featured Replies

I've searched and can't find the answer, android auto works well for me, one annoying thing is that when a direction is announced the radio is not muted, have I missed a stereo/android auto setting for this ?

I know you can adjust the two volumes independantly, but would really like the auto muting of the stereo.

I sometimes get the opposite, it mutes the music and then doesn't unmute it. It may be a similar issue / setting involved

there is an android auto setting "automatically resume media" but if its intermittent its probably not that.

Can you be a bit more specific, it would help answer your query.

Direction announced from the built-in nav or from Google maps nav?

ok so when I'm driving using android auto (google maps) for directions, when it states and instruction to turn left/right etc the radio that is already playing is not muted so it can be hard to hear the instructions.

There is a setting in the built-in units sound cog menu. Tried that?

what do you mean by built-in units sound cog, could you be a little clearer.

I've tried the cog when android auto is running on the maps screen and the only audio is to enable or mute the google maps directions announcements.  Not what I was looking for.

The settings menu of the in-built unit, for "Sound" under "Volume" if I remember correctly.

I sometimes have this when I first pull off. It will go into mute with the little icon of the face on the display then stay stuck on.

Only way I have found to get round this is to either disconnect and reconnect the phone or hold the voice button down for a couple of seconds then say "cancel"

The mute tends to work on only part of the instructions on mine - most of it comes through ok though.
