Millers Diesel Power Plus

Featured Replies

Big shout to my current favourite thing about my car.... This Millers stuff is giving me SCARY increases in economy on journies - I can't really quote %% at the moment but I put in

Been using it for quite a while now. ;)

Where do you buy it? I'll give it a try. Could be worth it with me getting through 3 tank fulls per week

Anyone know if this is available to buy online or do I need to brave Halfords? :D

Well, I'm considering a group buy. I think you need to go www.millersoils.co.uk (not sure on the web address) and find a stockist.

Well, to answer my own question:

although it looks like it might be cheaper to get it in Halfords!

Halfords aren't a stockist I think. The only place I might give a shot is the place I always get my Millers XFE-PD from in Exeter. Hopefully I'll twist their arm into a bulk buy and I'll let other Briskodians at C&F, etc have them at cost. :)

It seems 5 litres can be bought online for ~50 quid + VAT so should be some room for manoeuvre for us "low-volume" users, with enough interest :D Only downside seems to be postage costs.....

Chris

I get it from my local motor factors.

Yeah, postage sucks. I could easily get 10 bottle for £50ish online, but to post one bottle is going to be around £3, making it pointless. Better off finding your own local stockist (the above site works ;)) and paying the £7(ish) all in for a bottle.

That was where I found it online for 7 quid a bottle :P I think I'll pop into there on my way home (might have to park the Mondeo out of sight though!)

Well, my current bottle is nearly out too, so shall also be trying to pop in on my way home. I only hope they're not shut at 5.

I could be into some of this millers at Cat n Fiddle

but Jason you may have found your MPG increase because you had cleaned your engine out going round Castle Coombe (chucked all the crap out)

Oh I'd been using Millers for 3 or 4 weeks prior to blatting around Castle Combe on Saturday. I'll see what I can do and if I can get 6 bottles cheaper, I'll bring some to C&F for others to have at the same price I paid.

I have used Millers in my diesel for years. I can always tell when I have run out and unable to add it..

Is this wholly suitable for the PD?, i know one is under development for PD engines but not available as yet and no additives are reccomended?

Dunno mate. With the smooth running and superb economy I'm getting at the moment, I've got no intention of stopping unless Millers themselves tell me its dangerous. :)

With all these warranty niggles going about I wont get some millers just yet

as I think I read somewhere it could void warranty

I'll try calling Skoda UK and see what I can do to my car and not void warranty

all I know thats safe as they told me over the phone is tyres, same speed rating or higher

oil as long as its got the VW505.01 spec

and fuel standard Deseil (think its 95) or higher spec

I e-mailed Millers about this:-

Hi,

Their reply was:-

Yes you can use diesel power plus in the vehicle, we are also going to be launching a new version (name as yet undecieded) which, when it hits the shops would be the one to go with for the future. Both products give a boost in cetane value. The newer product is designed more for after treatment componenets such as particulate traps and catalysts.

Regards - Martyn Mann

That was at the beginning of 2005.

Well, not sure how long the Millers PD oil has been in development and production - perhaps soon they will be - or have done their research and figured their regular power plus is basically the same stuff so save on production costs and just stick to the one product. :)

Don't wish to be a kill joy and please don't shoot the messenger -

http://www.fabia-vrs.com/additives.htm

Where's the shooter smilie? ;)

I think that's more of a backside covering memo, than anything else. Certainly not going to stop me using it. The results have showed how good it helps my car, and if the engine can't cope with a 1:1000 additive.

A worthy post though, Stu - Just not one to dissuade me and maybe others from using it.

I don't really think you have any sort of warranty do you Jason :D :P

I agree that it sounds good, but you never can tell long term effects of these products sometimes, A certain well known oil additive product contains polytetrafluoroethylene which acts as a bearing material and reduces wear on an engine, it wasnt until a few years on it was noticed that there were actually PTFE buildups in the crankshaft oilways causing starvation to big end bearings.

Just playing devils advocate of course and i dont intend to keep my fabia forever but untill the PD specific variety is released i may well hold off, Warranty is a important thing, only a year to go and i wouldnt want to risk it now, after resisting other temptations :D;)
