Retro-Fit FlatBlade Wipers!!!!!

Featured Replies

Hi

I have a Skoda but my wife has a Audi TT and she has just bought a pair of Retro-Fit Flatblade wipers like the ones you get on the new Octavias etc.

Here is the link to the TT forum on this:

Apparently they use the same clip as normal arms so can be fitted on all cars, just thought I would give you all the heads up as I tried to get Bosch ones for my car and I needed to buy a replacement arm (

thanks for link , just ordered blades for my fab VRS

Ric...... Any chance you could post some pics when you get them fitted so we can see what they fit like.......... I was toying with getting the Renault Scenic blades mentioned on another thread but might go for these if they look spot on.

Cheers

Dave.

not got them yet but they are the same length as the original fitment blades 21"+19" , i've also ordered the polo rear aero blade and arm from vagparts , i'm hoping they arrive before the cat+fiddle meet/run at the weekend:thumbup: if i can workout how to get the photos posted i'll do it:confused:

got the aero blades , and i'm a bit disappointed too tell the truth :( blades nowhere near to bosch standard ,clips stick out and a bit of a pain to fit (fiddly anyway) and the o/s blade leaves a trail of water in the middle of the blade where the rubber doesn't touch (it will be going back) also if i keep them on i'm going to have to adjust the o/s arm as the blade kisses the screen pillar (arm will probably snap on removal) so at present i couldn't recommend them :thumbdwn: however i did also recieve the rear aero blade/arm from vagparts , this is spot on  just requiring the nut cover trimming so it doesn't push up when in use as mentioned in another thread;)

I have a pair coming following a link elsewhere. I hope I get abetter set than you. They looked a lot better on the website.

The blades are supposed to apply equal pressure everywhere so for one to leave a trail of water behind it is totally unacceptable! :(

Got mine today and like ric found that the driver's blade is too concave in the middle, so leaves an unswept area in front of the driver. Will leave it for a bit and see if it settles, but at the moment these are just 'a nice idea that nearly works'.

Thats ominous. :( Any clues as to why its so concave? Think its possible to bend the blade back a bit when its off the screen? Its supposed to put equal pressure at every point on the blade....

mine leaves approx 40mm wide trail of water across screen , it just seems like the middle section is slightly lifted up , will have a little mess tomoz before i set off to C+F meet but i think that blade is going back

Can you bring it tomorrow, either on the car or not please? (it won't be raining anyway all day)

Thanks for the info Ric............. I think i might go for the Renault Scenic aero blades instead....... they are slightly differant lengths but people seem to say they work really well.

Cheers again

i think they are for early scenic as the later one has a very long o/s blade iirc 66cm , the fabia o/s is 53cm , but not totally sure on that one:confused:

Yeah they are the blades from the scenic upto 2000...... normal wiper arms but the bosch aero upgrade etc..... drivers side is slightly longer than the furby and passenger slightly shorter but they seem to work ok.

Cheers

Dave.

I've had no problems with my Bosch Renault Scenic blades.

Pricey, but worth it IMHO

I have got Trico Innovision universal fit beam blades on my furby and Octy. They work really well and are available for all U arm type wiper systems.

Where'd you get them from?

What the verdict then? Have you sent them back.

Just seen this thread over at Seatenthusiasts.co.uk

Quite tempted!

Well, I fitted mine last night and once I put them back on the screen, I could see clear air between the blade and the windscreen, right in the middle. However I gave them a quick bit of bending out, and then gave them first wipes using the washer jets and after a couple of trail leaving, they now sweep fine & clean, and look ace. (well, better than standard)

I would suggest that those who've had trouble, bear with them, give them a bend, and eventually I believe they will bed in. The force of the wiper arm seems enough to keep 100% of the blade in contact with the screen. :)

Ok quite tempted by this option again. Just to confirm is it a 21" and a 19" blade I'd need?

Yes - but its easier to use the websites "brand" "model" "year" thing to get the right ones.

Waiting for the first proper rain now to test these, but initial results are good despite my own pessimism once I saw the blade wasn't touching the screen 100%.... soon fixed that DIY style. :D

Have you got a piccie of them fitted Jason? Not like you not to have photographic evidence of your mods!!!!

OK OK - I take the hint!! :P

They look good. Makes the car look more modern.

Who makes them?
