Clunking noise from dashboard(?)

Featured Replies

Around 6-7 weeks ago, my car developed a clunking noise which seems to come from somewhere behind the dashboard, on the driver’s side (although there are occasions when I think it’s coming from the rear offside).  When driving over a rough surface (and in Glos., there are many given the overall poor state of the roads) or over speed humps/cushions, I hear a series of dull clunking noises, which is most annoying.  The rest of the time, the car is wonderfully free of annoying rattles.  The obvious answer is to book in with the dealer to get it looked at, but in these weird Covid times, everything is such a faff that I’ve held back from doing this.  I was just wondering if anyone else had had a similar experience and what the outcome might have been.
