What to look out for on a used 2016 206TSI?

Featured Replies

Hi All, I'm the new guy.

I've put a deposit down on a used 2016 Build 206TSI Wagon with 49K on the clock that was optioned with all the add on packs. I will be going ahead subject to inspection which is getting done on Monday. I'm coming from a Golf GTI 40 Year so am familiar with the drive train, however just not familiar with the individual quirks of a Superb and was looking for advice on anything in particular that I should look out for before proceeding .

Thanks in Advance.

I’ve owned my Sportline 272 for almost a year and have loved the experience.

I’m not aware of many peculiarities with the Superb. In general, it’s a very well sorted machine, as you’d expect from a VAG brand.

I would guess that ensuring it’s been serviced regularly is essential, but that’s generic advice not specific to the Superb!

Sorry I can’t be more specific, but I can’t think of anything which you need to look out for! Maybe others will be able to enlighten both of us.

Check the air vent handles are actually connected to the air vent vanes. They can be a bit delicate. ( esp ones blowing rear passengers, just the right height to be kicked by kids)

Ski hatch handle is also fragile for some.

Start stop button can be temperamental.

Check the torch is in the rear and if its importsnt to you the skoda brolly(s?) Are in the door cubby hole.

Check for noise on auto boot struts.

Check the 'mouse' wheel on the steering wheel works ok.(press it in the select)

Had mine since Jan 2019 ( nov'16 build) and still love it.

Hope its mint for you.

Thanks Chazzy, funnily the rear vents are damaged my son spotted them. Are these easy to fix? They do look quite flimsy

I didn’t notice a torch but the brollies were missing and I’ve told the dealer “ no brollies no sale” and they’ve agreed to replace them.

Everything else seems fine, having a pre purchase inspection done today and if everything is in the clear we’ll proceed.

Thanks for taking the time to reply Chazzy and Bigman.

Check chrome strips around windows are not coming off

Check spiderweb on wheel centers

Check for creaking / groaning suspension when driving over speed bumps.... Make sure you use light brake pedal pressure when going over bump

The boot light should pop out and turn into a torch. If DSG then it should have been serviced and if 4x4 so should the haldex. I always service my Air con every 3-4yrs as well. Don’t assume a full service history will have had these done if fitted. Rear discs wear prematurely as well, so need checked also.

Mine has been 'disconnected' by my 3.5yo son, the rear air vents. He did one first and I told him off. He said he won't do it again but hey ho just checked and the other is gone too lol.

Can't be arsed to fix and I imagine it could be a common problem.

Rear vents. If you have all the bits ( some will be inside the vent) and the patience if a saint and very steady hands, then yes fixable. ( I have all but the steady hands and managed)

Various guides on this site that show how to get the main unit out.

Good luck.

Had mine for over 2 years and love it.

Only issues i had was glove box not closing properly that got replaced under warranty and so did gear knob due to leather peeling off.

Check for loss of coolant as these might be prone apparently.

Otherwise all what was said above
