Clean electrical connections. Quick question.

Featured Replies

Hi all

Another electrical gremlin!! With all the rain the vrs has presented me with another fault. It reports fault with abs control module. I cleared the code. Drove for a while and its come back. I think the heavy rain might have soaked things.

I have read that cleaning and checking the electrical connection side of abs could help.

My question is can I disconnect the electrical connection of the abs without causing programming issues. If so what would you recommend doing first. I have a  full copy of vcds. .

I love the car. But these electrical issues are taking the shine off the car.

Thanks for reading

What is the fault code?

I didn't save it. The abs esp amber lights came on plus a red flashing handbrake light. The fault abs control error was recorded. I usually save it and take a pic but didn't, sorry. I'm sure it will be back soon and will do things properly.

To answer your question, disconnecting anything shouldn't cause any programming issues, but it may be wisest to disconnect battery negative lead and wait a few minutes before disconnecting anything else.

It happened again and here is fault code. 😔

I had control module defective fault codes for my instrument cluster everytime I scanned with VCDS, it worked perfectly, all of its functions worked, it communicated with all the other modules, I had read elsewhere that it was a bug and needed a VAG dealer to upload the latest firmware.
