Fitting SkodaAuto Amundsen+ To a 2007 mk2 Fabia

Featured Replies

Hi I’ve not long purchased a 2007 Fabia1.4 TDI and with a view to improve the radio I’ve purchased a SkodaAuto Amundsen+ The photo is my present wiring, I have already tried a parrot ck3100 for which I had to buy an adapter.

My problems are 1. will I be able to use the adapter if one is needed and 2. Do I need an adapter for my aerial which is a single socket type the one on the Amundsen is a double ?

Regards Danny

I think you might hit problems here with the CAN system. The Amundsen + unit being from a leter car works with CAN2.0 and I think your car uses CAN1.6, so effectively they don't talk to each other correctly. It won't turn on and off with the ignition, and the sat nav won't get instructuions from wheel speed sensors etc. to augment the gps system.

Also, your Amundsen + might have Bluetooth built in so you may not need the parrot kit. Then again, it might have Bluetooth but may not work due to the CAN issue.

Thanks Rustynuts great reply do you know if there is an canbus adapter that can cure or at least give me a usable level of interface I have ordered the aerial adapter thanks again

Skoda also make a CAN-bus 1.6/2.0 adaptor/relay which I believe is designed exactly for this kind of retrofit.

What I don’t understand about this relay set up is that a relay is a set of either N/O or N/C contacts and a control relay, so my question is why does it cost so much for this item 83.53 euros.

Has anyone check one to see what the relay setup is ?

That's because it's not actually a relay despite being described as one.

A better description is a canbus translator/convertor?

It has two can bus connections, one that speaks can 1.6 to the car and one that speaks can 2.0 to the headunit. It translates the messages from one to the other. It just happens to be the same form factor as a standard relay but the function/pins are completely different.

Cheers thanks for the reply just can’t justify spending the money to make it work as it should, if it becomes a problem with its faults while I’m using it as it is I may change my mind.

cheers
