Skoda Connect

Featured Replies

I just bought a new Karoq SEL, having previously had  Roomster for the last 5 years. It's quite an upgrade, although it has the same Varioflex seats! I'm happy with car and all it does, but one thing that has confused the hell out of me is what Skoda Connect services I have access to and how it all works. I downloaded the Connect app to my iPhone expecting to be able to use it to 'connect' to my car to see various driving data and turn on/off certain settings. After several re-installs and lots of head-scratching and calls to the dealer and customer services, it turns out all I can actually do with my Brand new mid-spec car is send a postcode to the Satnav. Why would I even bother wanting to do that?? Apparently if you want to use all of these features you have to spec the car like that from scratch. MY car was already built when I ordered it and non one mentioned any of this to me.

I'm not all that bothered that I can't do all of these fancy things, but what I am bothered about is the miss-leading marketing and lack of awareness of Skoda staff about how Connect works and which cars can use it's various features. I've suggested that they provide a Connect pack with each car that specifies exactly which services are available on the particular build. This might just save other poor unfortunates from hours of tech frustration.

Doesn't it do real time traffic information?

I would like of echo your sentiments.  Skoda Connect is exceptionally poor marketed.  It is only there to give passive feedback to Skoda over any issues - but assuming your SE-L also has the function, it can also provide Infotainment Online functions for your connected radio.

I would skip one step and go and purchase Skoda Connect Lite - which is far better, plugs into your ODB2 port and gives lots more information about the running of your car; it can also auto-book servicing and you can have fun challenges.  Far better.

I think the thing you are missing is probably Connect Care  - which is the package that gives remote access, tracking,  auto-service bookings etc.

I think it does if you have your infotainment system connected to a mobile hotspot, but not sure if that works when you're using apple car play. I think I need to go on a course 😉

Thanks for that, will look into it.

A cheaper alternative...about £40....is to set up a MiFi in the boot permanently powered off the 12v Socket.

Setting up a hotspot on a iphone that the Amundsen will quickly and reliably connect to is a bit of  a faff!

I suggest you use the 'Connect Lite' app. It works without having to connect your phone by cable on every trip and I find it better.

I got my data plug...a VW branded one...from eBay for about £6....works perfectly.
