KPH/MPH

Many thanks, mine was in on 1st Dec when it was updated with the package of measures ( 97EQ) which were apparently supposed to have corrected these faults - however I am still getting the same issues with intermittent regularity.  Dealership promised to speak to Skoda UK - still await result.

I'm afraid I've joined the growing list of owners rejecting vehicles plagued with the technological problems. (It would be interesting to know how many have been rejected over recent months.......)

Infotainment system has been a total pain, has been shutting down intermittently and then shutting down completely throwing up to 4 faults on VC (SOS on permanently),

not the greatest in the weather that we are having as no access to heating or heated seats. Contacted Skoda UK who have raised a complaint form, will escalate if updates fail on Monday 14th.

Fortunately ours hasn't got that bad yet but it has developed a new fault the High Beam Assist is not available!!  Car booked back into Dealership on 15th for further investigation.

Will keep site updated but so far not at all impressed with the technology of this new model.

Well today I had 11 software updates! I was told there were 7 (97eq I suppose) but there were 11. Apparently one was to fix high beam assist which I had reported as not working properly. Otherwise I have no idea of what was updated.

As to km / m .... no change!

Not so good, I was told 7 updates needed, I have contacted Skoda UK with complaint re car, car goes in on Monday and will wait and see what the outcome is, Skoda will contact me on Monday and if no fix the complaint will be escalated.

Found a review of the new Octavia on YouTube where he has the exact problem at around 2:10

Thanks, that's interesting Skoda Customer Services say they are unaware of this fault!!  Amazing!

They certainly do! I've spoken directly to them about it, and many other things, 6+ weeks ago ...

Yes I appreciate that but having told them that I was aware of others with this fault as I said they said they were totally unaware of it and said they were recording it as a 'new issue for possible investigation but only after the car had been re-diagnosed by a Dealership!!  Why can't they just get on with it. it really can't be that hard to write a line of code?

I think they have two problems - firstly much of the software isn't written by Skoda but their suppliers so they have to persuade the suppliers there is a problem and how to recreate it so they can fix it; and secondly most software is written by teams of engineers so it's very likely that the engineer who wrote it won't be the person asked to correct it and some software engineers seem to have an amazing ability to write unintelligible code!

Well, garage had the car today and carried out the following :                                                                                                                                                                                                                  Carried out Service Campaign 97EQ, Carried out updates on OCU MBI 3 EI, MIB 3 01, ESC, MFK, Kessy IO-BOX, Kessy RSAD-BOX, Gateway, Rear Radar & OCU for Sound System.

The KPH/MPH update didn't work, Skoda UK contacted the garage and they will contact me in the next few days, and so it goes on.

Thanks for that, it is the same update they did on mine over 1/2 Dec and likewise very disappointed as it failed to address any of my issues.

Front Assist, Rear Traffic Assist, KPH/MPH and now now High Beam Assist and last couple of days the Voice Control appears to have a mind of its own intermittently interrupting and asking for clarity!  LED interior light pack not there,  Just so frustrating.

Car is in tomorrow for however long it takes hopefully to clear it up.

Take care and stay safe.

After my updates last week have been for the first long journey ... High beam assist, which was supposed to have been fixed isn't. Blinds everyone intermittently. Have also notice that lane assist is worse and again intermittently works at best. Unreliable. Beginning to despair! You can't just trust the software.

Hi Guys,

Finally got the car back and the frustration continues - all issues are still outstanding however my fault list is endorsed as below:

1.    Front assist, intermittently ‘not available’. Solved by selector lever. Currently on back order – customer to be contacted on arrival of part.

2.     Rear traffic assist, intermittently not available. Solved by selector lever.

3.     KPH/MPH, unable to select distance/miles. Request put through to Skoda in order to resolve this issue. Awaiting response, hoping to hear before return visit.

4.     High beam assist not listed in setting to select. Not fitted.

5.     Lock/unlock not available. Solved by selector lever.

6.     Voice control having a mind of its own and asking for clarity. Not showing fault at time of test. Customer to monitor, further investigation on return visit if issue persists.

7.     Interior Ambient Light pack not there. LED interior light pack is available on the vehicle in the settings, happy to show customer on return visit.  (Yes but it was the Ambient Light pack I referred to).

8.     Clock displayed in top centre of dash in Skoda marketing images. Not available for this model. Marketing images may have been concept images that are not available.

9.     Please ensure that Skoda connect is available as it does not appear to be able to access the internet. Displays options to purchase a plan, model should come with 12 months access. Solved by selector lever. Purchasing a plan comes when trying to turn the vehicle into its own hotspot.

10.  Vibration from between screen + glovebox. Mostly when rolling/slow moving, around 10mph. Not present at time of road test. Being investigated further on return visit.

So I am awaiting the arrival and fitting the the magic Selector Lever said to resolve 4 of the above issues.

Interestingly I now learn that the High Beam Assist is not available without the Full Matrix LED Headlights - very disappointing.

I would be very interested if any of you have the High Beam Assist without the Full Matrix LED Headlights.

Hope this is of interest to other owners trying to get their faults sorted.

also with your issue 8 its not a concept image most of us have it lmao, they talk out there arse dont they, i did notice the 20 plate dont have clock and 70 plate does not sure if thats 100% correct but just what ive noticed

I have also been told that High Beam Assist is only available with full matrix LED Headlights. Seems strange to me when the sensor is there.

I asked about HBA when I collected the car in September and was told it didn't have it (thought this model would have it as standard), thought this strange as the car that was traded in against the new one had it as standard. You can purchase it from the "shop" on the 2nd page of the menu on infotainment, think it's about £150.

I too don’t have the the clock in the centre of the digital dash and ours is a 70 plate. Do you have the units issue with not being able to change the mpg and miles?

wondering what your software settings are?

I too had this airbag error prior to my car going in for the updates and the seatbelt warning light even though the wife was sitting with the belt on. Got the wife to film it and the comment back from the technician was that it was because the passenger airbag was switched off. This has been turned off since we picked up the car as I have never touched it and we have never had the error before.

seems I also have the over active voice commands since returning from the garage too

Thanks, I am trying to understand if it is a certain batch they may have some of these issues. Also just looking a some vids on the digital dash it would seem that the background colour changes to what you have the interior lights to. Does yours do this? If we change the interior lighting nothing changes on the dash

Yes what ever i change my ambient lighting to changes the dash, but on the dash where you can change whats in different bits theres a backgrounds (if not there go on the settings and tick it on if you have it) then you can change to colour of ambient lighting , all black or black and white but i find anyone who does not have the clock is not able to this

Thanks for that. So the only difference is that you seem to have a later version of the navigation database. Ours is 20.10

With regards to the dash changing with the ambient lighting it would seem we do not have this feature
