Postcode in Columbus SatNav

Featured Replies

Maybe I'm being stupid but I've had my new Octavia since Wednesday and have not yet been able to enter anything into the SatNav that it will actually accept. Could somebody please guide me on how to enter and have it recognise a UK postcode?

Thanks in advance.

Are you manually inserting a space between the two sections of the postcode?

I.e.  NE2 3WD  not NE23WD

i've tried both, and so far without much success. It returns random destinations or "off-road"

I've not had need to use the sat-nav yet, but I tried my home postcode to check out what it put in the HUD. I got the off-road experience too. Technically my house is off the road, but not my *that* much!

Not sure I trust it, especially if I'm not familiar with where I'm going.   Guess I'll stick to Android Auto for now.

Thanks for your help.

I put in my home address .... and according to the Sat Nav I don't live where I think I do ...

I don't know where they get their information from but I'm not sure I trust it ...

Couple of weeks in to owning a mk4 Octavia VRS estate couldn't be happier with it, but having similar issue with poscode entry on the Sat Nav, can it really be that hard to enter a simple postecode? Doesn't appear to be any option to enter postecode info.

I tried it a few times but was never happy.  In the end I purchased a better phone plan with more data and use Android Auto.

The car either forgets my phone, or I have to select it from a list of one connected phones every time I get in.  I can't be bothered!!

I hate the way I have to select my preferred engine mode every time I get in the car too, and also that I have to SYNC the air conditioning every time, if I'm in the mood.

And I sincerely hope there's been a fix for the start-up kangaroo by the time I go for my first service!!

Outside of that, it's quite a nice car!

Enjoy yours.

I’ve never used the postcode search in the satnav but I do know that others have had similar problems - and I believe a fix for this and many other issues is on the way, maybe later this month.

Let's  hope so, appreciate that a lot of European countries don't use/have postcode info, but seems quite remiss of Skoda to sell a car to the UK market without the ability to enter postcode info!

Sounds like waze might be the way to go - not tried it yet but fingers crossed that can be used via Andriod Auto?

On Google maps you can download maps when on WiFi for offline use when in the car, then the only data usage is for traffic info - which is much less than downloading maps.
