Octavia 2 windows opening independently

Featured Replies

Have returned four times to my Octavia 2 to find all the windows open. Have tried squirting WD 40 down the drivers door between the glass and frame to drip down to the window controller to get rid of any moisture but no avail. Any ideas folks?

There was a thing on theolder mkI where windows would open, can't for the life of me recall what it is.

I've moved the topic to octavia II for a better chance a current mkII owner knows.

There used to be a reset, if you hold the unlock; I think, button down, all windows will drop, hold that till fully open, then the lock button to raise them... I think thats the sequence. Handy for returning to a hot car ;)

The problem there is the internal ultrasonic movement detection will likely trigger the alarm, just like that car at the supermarket car park with a window left slightly open that is driving folks crazy.

An odd feature with little practical use.

Do you keep your car keys in your back pocket or somewhere where the unlock button can be inadvertently pressed and held down. As Colin says that would open all the windows, and also unlock the car. However the car may then lock itself again if a door is not opened within, I think, 30 seconds.

Thank you for your reply. The fault has happened twice overnight so inadvertently pressing the unlock on the fob is not the reason for the window opening.

I have hads a few "funnies" with the convenience module so try my trick which has always worked (except one time).

Remove the negative lead from the battery; wait a few minutes; reconnect the battery; reset the time clock; reset the limits on the window lifts. Next time you drive the car the fault light for the power steering will go out. You will also have had a reset to zero on the display for trip, long term mpg etc.

Thank you, I will give it a try!

Different car altogether I know, but my Saab did this a few times and it was a result of low battery voltage. I had noticed the car cranking more slowly but it still started every time. Once the battery was changed it never happened again. Son in law has the car now, it's still ok.

Annoyingly it used to drop the windows and / or open the boot. I thought it was something complex.
