Suspension

Featured Replies

Going to replace the suspension on my 04 Fabia MK1 1.9tdi estate. My question is should I just put standard suspension on or will the vtr suspension fit, and is the vtr lower or same height, as not looking at lowering the car.

Any advice

Thanks

There were no Mk1 vRS estates made so the rear suspension might be different. It would be far easier just to replace the standard components.

Cheers for the reply, that makes life easy.

And if it's any help- I've changed the rear shocks on my 1.4tdi and it's one of the easiest jobs I've ever done in over 50 years . BUT do replace and torque up the locking nut on the lower arm .

Sounds like there is a story behind this.

Oh, on same age Polo and late 2009 Ibiza, and probably on 2015 Polo, the lower mounting point has a welded nut and a bolt, so the welded nut sounds like it has broken away from the lower fixing point.

I'm pretty sure that all Mk1 Fabias have a non-welded separate nut.

Yup, I was wrong on all the cars I mentioned.

I wonder if my wife's 2015 VW Polo still has its "item 3" - or has it dissolved completely yet.

No story, just that it's good practice to replace locking nuts once removed. On mine on replacement the lock nut could be run up the thread by hand. I changed it before there was a story to tell.

TMB- on the 1.4 TDI, all is per diagram.

Yeah, they're all the same.
