Karoq sportline wireless charging

Featured Replies

Hi,

Due to collect a brand new Sportline next week - I was under the impression they came with wireless charging as standard but i cannot find any reference to it anywhere...  Can anyone confirm if its still fitted to the car?

Yes it is standard on the MY 21 Sportline

I'm assuming it won't be allowed to have the signal amplifier though that OFCOM have banned. So I'm hoping that it will still be able to receive a decent mobile signal when it's charging.

Brill thanks all, I did see it in the equipment list, but it wasn't listed on the spec sheet I received for the car so got a bit paranoid :)

Wireless charging is brilliant. It works very well.

Can this be retrofitted to older karoqs (I have MY20 sportline with manual shifter)  ? Does it also support wireless android auto or is it only wireless charging?

It's been done before - just search for it although for me at least, the cost and result wouldn't be worth the effort. And then you've  got to make sure the phone is capable of wireless charging which few are.

Regarding your 2nd point, yes MY21 cars support wireles AA. But again, it's dependent on your phone.

Android 9 -  From memory there were only a couple of top end Samsung phones that were compatible with wireless Android Auto

Android 10  - I believe only Samsung and Google phones are compatible

Android 11 - Any phone running Android 11 will be compatible.

Note: phone must be capable of running WiFi at 5Ghz  ( older / cheaper phones may only run at 2.4GHz ).

Hope that helps.

I'm only interested in official wireless charger from skoda and if their dealer is willing to install it. Nice to hear that wireless AA works with that charger.

Eh, my local dealer told me it was a no go since the wireless charger isn't sold as part of additional equipment.

But it must be available as spare parts surely, to replace any that fail? But I accept it could get expensive if there are wiring implications as well as the hardware itself.
