Cigarette Lighter Relacement

Featured Replies

Morning All

I want to replace my cigarette lighter with a dual USB charging point .. i have removed the cigarette lighter which has exposed a white connecting socket with 3 wires ( Brown / Red/Black and a Thin Blue wire ) however the replacement unit just has two pins ( positive and negative ) .

I have to remove the wires from the original connecting socket as the pins on the new unit are wider than the connection points on the socket and i assume that it will be the Brown and Red/Black wires i will be using ... question is what do i do with the Blue wire ? Do i leave it connecting to the original connecting block ?

TIA

I suspect (but can't be 100% sure) that the thin blue wire is for illumination.

Agree, not worth the hassle to rewire if you by the right 12v USB socket as they sit flush with the trim, unless its something  you really want to do!
