Superchipped Fabia TDi..

Featured Replies

Having a Superchip fitted by Prima Racing in Nottingham tomorrow...

Predicted power will be "at least" 131bhp & 219lb/ft.

Will be doing some experimenting with the tuning box in situe as well.

I shall be posting my findings....

That should be interesting! Lets us know how it drives!...oh and leave the poor BMW drivers alone....lol

Well i have been wearing a very large grin today..

The bad news was that Primas rolling road has a fault so my Fabia couldn't be dynod :( (i would have been interesting to know the original output)

However, I am delighted with the Superchip.

The delivery is SO smooth - it drives more like a petrol engine as power builds strongly from low down and doesnt run out of puff at 4000rpm as before.

There is a big difference between the chip and the tuning box - the TB was quite aggreesive in power delivery which could be annoying when driving in town.

Then with the Superchip fitted, i connected the tuning box....

I was prepared for increased smoke from the exhaust and some clutch slip.

To my amazement i can report no more visible smoke and no clutch slip. However i was being very careful.

The delivery was still smooth with the TB added and there is simply lots of torque. :D

Its ridiculously quick for such an understated car!

I'm tempted to do some (rough) timed in gear acceleration runs, but i am obviously being quite cautious with the setup at the moment.

I dont want to break anything!

Watch this space...

Excellent figures for the little fabia there, arh not so little anymore :) Almost as much torque as Ian's 1.8T remap 231 IIRC...

I know what you mean about wanting to take it easy....time will come...I'm actually really intrested to see how this fabia pulls, especially with the little rs version coming out...what with clare needing a car soon

Well if any of you are interested these are some of the figures i managed to get using my trusty stopwatch. Most of them are rounded up slightly but you'll get thet general idea..

30-70 (through the gears) 7.0sec

50-70 (5th gear) 6.5sec

50-70 (4th gear) 4.25sec

30-50 (4th gear) 4.75sec

30-50 (3rd) 3.0sec :D

60-80 (5th) 6.0sec

60-80 (4th) 5.0sec

70-90 (5th) 6.75

80-100 (5th) 10sec

These were approximate/average times.

I found that times were quicker if i allowed the intercooler to recover after each run., by coasting with the clutch depressed.

Not bad for a diesel eh?

Not bad at all! In fact, it supports the rumours we've been hearing about the possibility of a diesel Fabia RS.

Looks like i've beaten Skoda to it

Fitted a V// skoda motorsport badge to my Fabias grille!

Noticed the inquisitive looks from a passing Octavia RS....

I like your style! 8)
