Windscreen vent reflections

Featured Replies

Anyone else notice that their windscreen vents are reflected in the screen itself? And has anyone fixed the issue?

Yes. But I ignore them.

Wear polarised sunglasses, I do not see the reflection with them on. Of course, only on sunny and/or bright days... But that is the only time I see the reflection anyway so...

Probably not the best idea at night though 😂

Unfortunately I have.

But worse is the glare from road signs when the full beam is on.

What lights does a 17 plate vRS have? I've had Xenons before but these seem to be next level.

If it's the facelift model they are LED,  if it's pre-fl it's the Xenons.

I drive a FL Version and the LED lights are very good.

Facelift here too and yes they really light up the road. Are they height adjustable at all?

Erm - I suspect that's a trip to a dealership....  My previous car had them as well (BMW).. and that was not adjustable.   Usually with halogen fitted cars you there's an adjuster which you used to be able to make fine adjustments with LED I suspect they won't be given they can be lethal to oncoming drivers.

Thought so. The left one seems to bounce an unbelievable amount of light back from signs.

I'm not sure LED lights are a necessity and God help us when one fails.

Perhaps your left hand one could do with a looksee by a dealer.  My BMW also gave me a fair bit of bounce back on high beam but so far the VRS has been a little better.  The BMW LED tended to just end... with no light overspill which left you feeling like there was nothing beyond what the LEDs illuminated....which I also did not like on low beam.  The LEDs on the VRS are very bright but don't seem as, dare I say, focussed as the BMW ones and I don't feel like there is absolutely no illumination beyond the immediate low beam pattern.  High beam on both is great.

There was a chap I worked with many years ago that specified Xenon headlights on his company car and as an option they were close to £1k which he had to pay in to be able to get.  At that stage I thought he was nuts... but given I've now caught up age wise... I can understand why he wanted the option.  I'd not be without Xenon's or LEDs these days.

Back to the original poster's original question (which I see has occasionally been mentioned before:

Me too. (Brand new 2020 Octavia Scout, default dark grey colour scheme). The reflection of the dashboard top/windscreen air vents is often visible towards the bottom of the windscreen, and a bit too frequently it's too distracting.

So, other than electrical tape or spray paint, no fixes? I've never understood why manufacturers would EVER put something in a car that obviously interferes with the driver's clear vision of the road... :-(

Get a reflection of the chrome trim on the air vents on both side windows going across the door mirrors. Hasn't really bothered me, but can see it will annoy some owners.
