Hi all.

New owner of a 2011 Superb MK2 2.0 TDi estate here.

I've always been a big Mercedes fan but Just after lockdown finished, I sold my CLK220 cdi and bought a Focus ST-3 Estate. Big Mistake. Yes it was fast but by the gods it was uncomfortable. It had leather Recaros in it, which look fantastic but unfortunately, I don't have a Recaro shaped body! The suspension was way too hard and the torque steer was horrendous. I could never relax whilst driving it. So after just two months and much back pain, It had to go.

I decided that I wanted another Mercedes estate of some sort but I couldn't find one that I liked that was in good enough condition/the right spec/decent mileage. As i couldn't drive the Focus any longer, I decided to look around for something different.

I spied my Superb in a dealers up by my Dads place and decided pretty quickly that I really liked the look of it. It had been a very long time since I last had VAG product. ( A1973 Golf 1100, back in 1988!) A Quick test drive and I was suitably impressed. A very good deal was promptly done.

I really like the DSG box. It makes the old five speeder slushbox I was used to in the CLK feel really ancient. Mine is an Elegance with 170bhp so it comes extremely well equipped and goes quite well indeed. I especially like the 50+mpg that I can easily achieve without too much effort. Plus it's so vast inside that rear seat passengers are in another postcode.

This motor is definitely a keeper. I love the way I can just waft along, quite briskly as it happens, in total comfort. Nice.

There is another bonus, too....

Buying this to use as my daily has left enough in the kitty to buy another CLK "toy", but with 8 cylinders and possibly a canvas roof this time. :)

I assume there are some on here that will probably rib me for liking Mercs but in reality, I like cars from most brands. I learned long ago, never judge a car until you have driven one yourself. You might be surprised! I certainly have been by this Superb.

DSG is a really good system, definitely a big consideration when I replace my Octavia.
