...and with little more than 40HP it might also be the slowest electric car in Europe. I would rather have seen the Dacia Duster electrified.

For Urban Driving so basically a city car it is all that many need or want.

Undercutting a Smart for 2 & a Smart for 4.  If people just want to drive to the shops and other places and usually have a 2nd or 3rd car in their household it could be ideal.

Perfect for Couriers, Fast Food Deliveries, Tradespeople etc in low emission zones and just private individuals travelling in them.

They will be perfect for Car Club / Car Share / Hires to pick up and travel and leave like to and from airports and travel hubs.

If Renault want Dacia EV's that are bigger and heavier with more power and range they can easily produce them.

Horses for courses and if there is a market build vehicles for that market if the other segments are all ready being provided for....

It shows as taking a CCS charger.

Smart EQ2020

Not really suitable to be used as an Ambulance or Hearse unless for animals, or as a Camper Van.

All the car that many people ever need if they just potter about town and country on single lane roads or limited speed dual carriageways.

Fine as a Pool Car for many business users /  NHS, Carers, social workers etc & even trades people just doing local journeys.

Would probably appeal to those looking for a motor to "pooter aboot" in once we go all 'leccy, such as the role generally filled by the Honda Jazz, Nissan Micra etc. currently.

More importantly too often the EV cars currently procured & supplied by Local Authorities for doing only a few miles a day are Leaf, Ionity, i3 etc at 30 grand plus and are a total unnecessary expenditure.

eg Angus Council.

Review said the Dacia Spring would do 100 kph in ECO code ie 62 mph but 125 kph out of ECO and that is 78 mph so 8 mph more than the UK national speed limit.

I got knicked for 80 mph in a 70 mph A road down the bottom of a big hill. I bet one can knicked for a similar speed in the Spring in the right conditions.

I have no problems with a 40HP car and 0-60mph in 20 seconds. I was just pointing it out as having so little power is quite unusual these days.

If they made a 40HP electric Duster I might be interested.

It might only cost about £2000 extra if the manufacturer didn't increase their profit margins as a Duster wouldn't cost much more to produce. However, that would upset the applecart and reduce sales of more expense cars on which larger profit margins are made.

The lack of rear legroom in the Dacia Spring is a joke, although it's not the only cheap car that has that problem. It must be easy enough for manufacturers to make a car 2" to 4" longer so that there's a decent amount of rear legroom.

Even the SDI engine in the Mk1 Fabia could shift better than that! So that would suggest that maybe I do have a problem with a 40hp car... :D

The Duster is a good, solid car IMO. Our one has the 100hp petrol engine and can fairly shift. Handy for the dog too, who now prefers my Furby because he can sit on a blanket in the back... :)

The point of a small car is it is not the size of a slightly bigger one,

If you want bigger and heavier then surely you want bigger to put people or stuff in and then you need more power / battery / motor weight maybe.

Just to move one or 2 people about in a village, town, city or countryside you do not need rear leg room.

A Smart for 2 Car or Toyota 1Q moves one or 2 people about the iQ moved 3 or 4.

An Up!MiiCitigo moves 4 comfortably enough.

33kW / 45 ps , 125 Nm

More than enough in town with one or 2 people in it

. Enough to get moving with other traffic.

(2 of my e-Bikes have 75 Nm and my Specialized Levo Turbo 90 Nm)

A left hand drive in a UK City would not be that much of an issue, you would get out at the pavement side on one way streets etc if making deliveries.

This is 'Ideal for the city (or even town or country)   More so for many getting about in UK weather with shopping, stuff, tools etc much of the year than e-Scooters / e-Bikes for hiring.

Ideal for cities where there are Congestion Charges,

Idea if they start charging lots more for big / long vehicles in a city with only one person in it like should happen in the UK.

The Spring, aka City, KWID and several other names is probably OK for many physical smaller drivers, front passengers and rear passengers.

It produces 125 Nm from 500 to 2500 rpm and then 44 hp between 3000 and 8200 rpm, so is going to be fairly good off the line 50 kph/30 mph.

It probably show an over-speeding the motor message at something like 135 kph, ie down a slight hill or with the wind behind it.  Plenty.

This is very true. Would prevent quite a few doors from getting ripped clean off.
