New car paint defects..

Featured Replies

There is good reasons the paint is what it is these days and different when i started out as a car painter more than 4 decades ago.

Many do not faff around with PPF and have lovely paintwork even with what leaves car factories in 2020.

And my car is ready to picked up tomorrow morning.

I spoke to the detailer, and most of the marks have been taken care of and there's a few which are now minor so I'm fine with that. NZ has an obsession with paying bottom dollar for resealing roads so we end up with poorly laid chip seal roads in which they don't bother sweeping up the excess stones, so its bound to get stone chips at some point.

I asked why they didn't cut and polish, and he said that they couldn't be sure whether the marks were on top or below of the clear coat. Being a new car they didn't want to assume that risk, and it was better going through the dealer and the approved repairer process for warranty purposes, which makes complete sense now that I think about it.

Anyway, hopefully I'll have some pictures soon of another boring business grey Skoda Superb Sportline Wagon to contribute to the pictures thread. I've named her "Saga" :)
