I had this had a while ago and I’m not sure if I posted about it on here.

Now it’s happened again.

 

Unlocked my car and before I’d opened the door I could hear a loud thumping noise at about 1 second intervals coming from the drivers door speaker.

Got in and started up.

Noise continued.

The big satnav screen was blank.

Drove about  3 miles.

Twice the noise stopped then started again.

Parked up and went into a shop.

Came  back to car and noise had gone.

Drove off. Satnav screen was on, but was flashing on and off.

Stopped somewhere else and went in a shop.

Came back and everything was back to normal.

 

Any ideas  what this was?

I've had the same experience. The first time was just after Christmas and it has happened maybe 6 times since - maybe one journey in 4 or 5. It happens in different ways, sometimes with a bang, sometimes with a thumping "heartbeat", sometimes no noise at all. In my case, when the noise comes it is from all of the speakers and it's pretty loud: once I thought someone was pounding a fence post into the ground until I realised it was coming from the car after unlocking. The screen flashes, goes dark, etc, as you describe, every time.

I have tried turning the radio off before switching off the ignition. The next time I started the car the fault re-appeared a couple of minutes after I turned on the radio.

 

Hopefully bumping this post will catch someone's eye who can offer some advice.

mine hasn’t happened again since I posted.

mind you I’ve hardly driven the car in the last six months due to Covid keeping us in.

I get the same symptoms when I hoover my Skoda. It is a warning of low battery voltage because I have all the doors open and the radio on.

Mrs W often moans about a strange noise coming from the speakers. She's not a Slayer fan!

Returning to this old topic, a replacement battery cured the problem in my case. The old one was getting weak to the point where stop/start rarely kicked in.

 

All is well now (crossing fingers!).

 

Also the mirror-fold using the lock button has returned!
