Rear wiper not working since reverse camera fitted

Featured Replies

It’s been a month since I had my reverse camera retro fitted, but I’ve only just realised my rear wiper used to sweep when reverse was selected and now doesn’t. Also the near side wing mirror used to adjust down at the same time when selecting reverse and now doesn’t either. I’ve spoken to the guy who fitted the camera and he’s said it’s nothing to do with the fitting of the camera and must be coincidence that it’s since stopped working as he said the camera is coded in 5F module, the mirrors and wiper in BCM. I have no idea what this means but anybody else who’s got the camera confirm their wiper still sweeps when selecting reverse and near side mirror adjusts down at the same time ?
BTW I’ve selected the icon on the infotainment system, Option is ticked to say this is selected.

thanks

Get the car scanned to see if you have any faults

where did you go to have it fitted? and was it an original Skoda or aftermarket camera?

all functions should work with no conflict

It was a genuine camera that was fitted by an aftermarket fitter who’s done hundreds of aftermarket work on the whole VW/Seat/Skoda range. As I say it may must be coincidental but wanted to confirm with others who have a camera fitted that the rear wiper and near side mirror still operate

It may be that he has piggy backed off the rear wiper fuse for the power supply and the piggy back fuse holder is either faulty or not fitted correctly.  If I remember correctly it is fuse No 39.

As your issues are after he did work then you need him to sort it

That might be the case for the rear wiper, however the Passenger side lowering on reverse is down to a CAN signal.

@lowey, without wanting to sound cheeky, have you checked to make sure the tick boxes for both functions are still selected in the infotainment system?

With the installer no doubt having to change settings to enable the camera, they haven't been set to default selections have they?

My apologies if that's stating the obvious! It's just to rule it out 😁

Hi, yes as mentioned at the very end of my original post I've made sure the boxes are ticked, its really strange as the wiper works fine if using the stalk.

Ah sorry! I must have read the first 95% of your post 🤣

That's peculiar. My mirror sometimes forgets to work but usually only for one journey. Or it forgets to come back up. What did we do before all this technology?!

doesn't the rear wiper only spring into action, when u reverse, if the wiper stalk is set to auto, and its actually raining?

With the mirror is the door switch in the correct position??
