The Must Have Summer Superb Mod?!?!?!?

Featured Replies

Well the sun is out, or at least it is at the moment, and my latest modification has arrived. Something simple but something that I had in my Bora and have only just got around to getting one for the Superb.

Sunglasses now require a home in the Superb and now they have one:

Only cost around

This was already in my Edition 100. I thought they were standard!

Not Standard, I got one of E-bay for about £15 but if i'd known thats all they were from the dealers i'd have got it from there and saved the P&P!!

You can get them in both Grey, and beige depending on the colour of your interior, but there are a couple of different sizes available, measure the distance of the screw holes on your existing grab handle to get the right one.

The edition 100 keeps getting better!

Standard on elegance & Edition 100

Got it on my Elegance too, only problem is that its not deep enough for sunglasses to fit into !!

My new VW T5 van has this as part of an option package. Its too small for Oakleys in a case, so I use it for other items;)

VW specify not for use in vehicle with curtain airbags. It's the only reason I've not got around to getting one yet. I'd imagine it's pretty low risk though, guess if bags go off your glasses get fired at you. Anyone like to comment?

I'd have thought FMIC would be THE summer mod? :D

tell you what, THE summer mod for me is my camper back on the road! WOOOHOOOOOOO it's in abersoch and has made it down without incident. been knackered for about 18 months and a couple of mates (one who owns a garage) have done it up for me on the basis that they can borrow it when they want. ROLL ON SUMMER :D

I have one of those sun glasses holders in my car, came with it, not an extra as far as i knew.....

Cant really be an issue with curtain airbags then if it comes as standard on certain models/years?

Not too sure about that. As stated previously, comes as standard on Elegance models which also have curtain airbags. If they don't recommend it then why do it themselves??

hehe ;)

My comfort has one fitted too - didnt know it was an extra?

dunno, just when i went into local VW dealers to get one from a passat (it's the same thing, isn't it? was thinking it was an identical part...) the guy looked it up on the catalogue and was just about to charge me when he said "you've not got curtain airbags, have you?". when i said "yes", he showed me a flag on the system that said "not suitable for vehicles with curtain airbags"...

think i'm going to get one regardless, mind.

question - are all the sunglassses holders in the VAG range the same bar colour? do i have to get one from skoda or will one out of a passat or golf fit?

No there are various different sizes for the Golf, Beetle & Passat, and also different ones for the Audi range, you need to measure the distance between the screw holes that your existing grab handle is held on by.

on my elegance too! - Standard

Came as standard on my 04 Comfort.

Bit late on the responses but looks like my Comfort TDI130 52 plate was a poor spec, LOL!!

Got one now though so getting closer to that home made Elegance spec, LOL!!

I can back this up.

The one I had in the Bora was a completely different size to this one I have in the Superb but then that's obvious as the handles are so much longer.

They were fited as standard to the Comfort/Elegance IIRC as one of the MY (model change year). MY 2004 that happened around 2003 sometime IIRC and is not just an Edition 100 change. IIRC front pillar air bags were fitted around the same time.

My 53 plate has both the sun-glasses holder and the front pillar airbags

My 53 plate classic has no sunglass holder but does have front pillar airbags (in adition to the roof and seat ones)
