Howya, just joined - found the site while trying to diagnose the cause of the power steering light being on in my mother's 00 Fabia 1.4MPi.

I'm actually driving the Fabia at the moment as I try to find a good 99/00 Octavia 1.6GLX.

I missed one good one yesterday by 15mins, having spent the morning looking at two others which turned out to have had hard lives - one of them had a gearbox problem (couldn't get 1st and 2nd - there allegedly was a bearing replaced in the gearbox - you could see it was disturbed from the wodge of instant gasket around the joint) and the head gasket was gone (mayonnaise and bubbles in coolant). The other one had oil pouring out of somewhere underneath - didn't even bother to pursue it as it was in bits.

Missed another good one last week - my train was late, dealer closed and the car was gone before I got back.

So if anyone knows of a good 99/00 Octavia in Ireland (south), for reasonable money, give me a shout!

And in the mean time, I look forward to some interesting Skoda-related discussions.
