Timing belt change

Featured Replies

Does any one know what skoda suggests on changeing the timeing belt and water belt, on mileage or time wise?

From what i can make out it's 140k or 5 years.
Can some one conferm it at all please?

Mines the 2 Liter diesel.

I wouldn't leave the water pump that long - most don't seem to last even half that mileage! It makes sense to do the cambelt at the same time as it involves much of the same labour in dismantling and reassembly.

Thats true. Normally get the pump and belt changed at the same time.

75000 miles or 5 years, for the 2ltr diesel. Had mine done in April. Use an Indy. Should be no more than about £380 or so for belt and water pump.

cheers nick

To add to the confusion, I was under the impression it was 100k and 5yrs.  You have to drive a fair bit to hit 100k in that time.  75k is more likely but it's sensible to change at 5 yrs if the pump hasn't packed up before then.  Mine went at 3 1/2yrs and 45k ish.

mines on 40,000 already. Only had the car 18 odd months from new!

Cheers Nik. I'll deffently be molesting the dealer when it's due!

50k for a modern cambelt is really low! Some man's are going to 10 years unlimited mileage.

I haven’t had mine changed and  the car is 7 years old but with less than 55k on the clock. Only had a couple of thousand when I bought it in early ‘15 so I’m chancing my arm but I’m not changing it until the Easter at the earliest.

Garages are not in the habit of quoting prices to private individuals that does not include VAT.

Easy enough to ask them though.

So your saying i can phone them up and haggle a price with them?

No i am saying expect the price to be what you pay which includes 20% VAT, and if you doubt it is including VAT ask them.
