Octavia estate rear windscreen wiper motor intermittent and making loud squeaking noises

Featured Replies

Just had the rear windscreen motor changed by local garage but now it doesn't wipe straight after pressing the lever. After two or three tries it will wipe roughly 3 times then park itself. It is also making a squeaking noise at both ends of its travel similar to rubber on a dry screen, quite loud and annoying. Took it back to garage and was told it sounded normal but it was never like that with the old motor.

What do you mean by 'it doesn't wipe straight???

And do you have new or new-ish rubber on there...

There is a couple of seconds delay before wiping if the screen wash fluid is activated, I'm not sure if the delay happens if you only select wipe.

Lift the wiper away from the glass and operate it to eliminate wiper/glass noise.

Put a new wiper blade on or operate it flipped off the screen. Does it still make noises other than the hum of the motor and gears? If so there is a problem! There is no constant on for mine. When it is on, it is on an intermittent setting swiping back and forward every few seconds.
