New Car today

Featured Replies

So got my new Kamiq SE L in Race Blue delivered today.  First thoughts are its lovely.  Drives very well and is quite refined to drive.  A couple of things I noticed weren't with it that I expected were the Removable boot light/tourch and a USB C adapter cable.  Are these meant to come with the SE L?

Thanks

The boot light should be included, but I don't think the cable is. Check the umbrella in the driver's door as my dad found his was missing.

The USB C adapter is at dealer's discretion for sure. When I took delivery of mine, the salesman turned up at my house the same evening with one for me that he'd forgotten to give me.

The umbrella is there and so is the ice scraper but where the boot light/torch should be is a plastic cover.

Just had a look at the brochure and it doesn't get a mention. I guess it'll be a question for the dealer or customer services.

Have you got any light in the boot?

I picked up a new SE at the beginning of October.  It too does not have the removable torch in the boot, it's location appears to be a continuation of the surrounding moulding with perforations along the outline.  I assumed that it was a feature of the SEL. There is a 'normal' boot light.

Another thing that has changed is that the little pockets on the inside of the front seat have also gone. These were handy to keep a radio scanner in. The pockets on the back of the seat are still present.

My SE L has got 2 boot lights, one each side of the boot compartment. The one on the right (as seen standing facing the boot) is a normal fixed one and the one on the left is much brighter in normal operation i.e. when you open the boot and both lights come on the one on the left isby far the brightest but when you remove it to use it as a torch it is dimmer with 2 forward facing led's.

SEL should have the removable light/torch. Left side looking into boot.

The rh one is not even led. I bought the replacement ones from Superskoda a while back and removed them on trade in. Fit the Kamiq as a straight swap. So much brighter.

Kamiq Monte Carlo's built post August 2020 do not come with the removeable boot torch - this is due to Skoda cost cutting.

Well my SE L is after Aug 2020 so that perhaps explains it.  Though you wonder how much they are saving by removing a touch?

I contected the dealer and they said it doesn't come with it.  SO I guess thats it.

Ayrshiredude ...   I bought a SEL in September, the boot torch was (very bright) , I actually just wen't out and opened my boot to check.  The usb c adapter cable, as mentioned above, is a dealer option.  You could buy this as an option.

yes you could have asked the dealer as they give them free they did with me or look at Kamiq accessories, or buy online

The dealer said neither come with the car.  I am going to look into the boot torch though as it's a handy thing to have.  I just bought a cable on Amazon as i needed it.

I ended up ordering these on Amazon, as they look more tidier than a right angle cable - cheaper too!

I bought a USBC to USBC cable on amazon for a fiver, useing it wirelessly anyway but needed it to connect the first time.  If I am go any log journeys (can't remember them) then I would perhaps need to charge as well.

ayrshiredude ... did you happen to buy your kamiq via ingram's in Ayr?

I only ask because i have family there. I went to there showroom in august...Really nice people.

Well I went to them to test drive and and was messed about.  Had arranged the testdrive and was told they had the 1.0 l avaliable then drove over to see it and was told they didn't have one to test drive and somehow I was unreasonable for being annoyed.    So I went elsewhere.

well, if lockdowns are still relaxed. i will be coming up to kilmarnock

Took delivery of Kamiq SE yesterday, 12th March.

Looked in boot and lying in the lhs storage compartment was a small bubble wrap bag - empty. I was aware a torch was included in the UK spec and surmised the empty bag must at some point have contained said torch. I informed the dealer.

Shortly thereafter I received an email informing me that a torch would be posted out in the next few days.

From reading this thread it is clear this is not a first.

As such I'm inclined to conclude they are being nicked. So much for the PDI.

Now, I am puzzled.

At the beginning of October last year I picked up a new Kamiq SE, I believe to be a 2021 model built end of August.

That does not have the rechargeable torch in the boot & in the position where I think that the torch is fitted,  the trim does not have the fittings, but the location is shown by perforations in the trim.

Having said that the Fabia SE estate I had previously, also did not include the fitment, despite being the face lifted model.

In both cases I assumed that it was not fitted to UK spec SE models - or perhaps its hit & miss.

Fortunately I am not too bothered, as a torch in the glove box is handier for use in emergencies.

As I said in first post the dealer has agreed to supply a torch. That implies it should have been included. However, dealers have been known to make mistakes!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You raise a good point. I might be in for a surprise when I remove the blanking plate only to find there's no interface connection to power/charge the torch. Or, is the torch battery powered with for instance AA batteries?

I'll remove the plate and report back.

Like you I'm not too bothered. But it might come in handy.

Build year 21 you don't get a torch so no one has nicked it. When you get the torch there is nowhere you can charge it as there's nowhere you can put it so it will be useless. It doesn't come in a bag as it is already in its holder/charger

As you write dealers have been known to make mistakes.

The dealer I use referred to the  Speed Limiter as a cruise control on the previous 2 Fabia that I owned!

When I got confused about what the the functions were of the Skoda Connect on the SE it became obvious that they knew little more than me - essentially nothing.

I've just removed the cover from where the torch would be located and there's no housing or charging cables behind it. So, a torch is no longer supplied as standard on the SE. Well, on mine it isn't.

Obviously the dealer wasn't aware of this or wouldn't have agreed to post one to me.

I'm still wondering; if not the torch what was in the discarded small bubble wrap bag in the boot.

Anyway, moving on.

Previous car was 2018 Audi A3 1.0 DSG S line. I liked it very much. That's the main reason I chose the Kamiq with the 1.0 engine and the DSG. And I have to say I am very impressed with the Kamiq. So much so I reckon I like it even more than the A3. Okay, early days but initial impressions are very favourable.
