RIP Diego Maradona

Diego Maradona, regarded as one of the greatest footballers of all time, has died aged 60.

The Argentinian, who had brain surgery this month, died of a heart attack, his lawyer said. Maradona inspired his country to World Cup glory in 1986 when as captain he displayed a level of skill, creativity, strength and desire arguably not seen before or since. In the 2-1 quarter-final victory over England he also scored perhaps the greatest goal of all time, a match in which the forward also showed his darker, mischievous side with the infamous ‘Hand of God’.

October 30, 1960,  November 25, 2020.
Brilliance and infamy in equal measure.

Never forgave him for the “hand of God goal”.He was a world class player and a world class cheat.

Many sportspeople are happy to win at any cost. Only winning matters nothing else.

After being defeated during the brief Falklands war in 1982 Maradona's clear cheating at the 1986 World Cup lifted the spirits of millions in Argentina and if VAR had existed back then perhaps history would have looked at this little football genius in a very different way. In his homeland they will honour him with 3 days National Mourning. Bad diet clearly led to his early demise from a heart attack at just 60.

Wait, what?! Did Maradona take Port Stanley? I had no idea he was in the Argentine army.

The ol'Bolivian marching powder is not good for your heart at all and I doubt Diego was ever shot of cash to buy it.

Footballers are unfortunately rarely well equipped to deal with the trapping of fame. The good ones especially stay in a immature environment, are coveted, showered with gold and them people wonder why the go awry. Give an average teenage boy a £100k a week and think about whatwould happen. That basically what happens to elite footballers.

Diego was let down really. no one took himaside and try to teach hime how to be a retired footballer

Bowie made it to 67 due to his liking for the white stuff in his earlier years. Reckon a 35 year old cocaine addict has the lungs of an 80 year old such is the damage it does.
